Man if only John Browning had designed a better gun that was easier to take apart

not trying to wonder off topic to much, but I have never heard of putting a glock in an ultra-sonic cleaner. How well does it work? To get back on topic I haven't lost any parts on my Glock because there are only 4 parts in a field strip ;-) now some of my other guns parts have never been found..

Great! Now we're going to have to listen to a buncha twaddle from the Glock Guys about how their ugly blocks of stamped steel don't need bushing wrenches, and how JBM sits at Gaston Glock's feet, and how that simplicity is worth the hole in their leg, yada yada yada ad infinitum.
Springfield XD :evil2:

I've used a large trash bag over the pistol at times when I'm disassembling one with an "Australian Spring" (that's one that likes to go walkabout).

Sorry to revive a slightly old topic but I nearly learned this the hard way one day while cleaning my M-1. I figured out that the M10 tool could be used to disassemble the bolt, so being the inquisitive type, I figured why not? The next thing I know the extractor is flying one direction, the firing pin in the other and I'm left holding the bolt.

Well maybe I didn't necessarily learn because I was cleaning my M59 last week and managed to shoot the firing pin across the room. Fortunately my wife wasn't home or she might've taken my gun away from me.

Is it any surprise I'd take things apart as a kid "just because"?

Nope, you just need to engage the safety. The cognitive safety. The one that keeps your finger off the trigger when it doesn't need to be there!

But, if you don't think you have enough intelligence to handle that, then you just keep on carrying your nickel plated sissy pistol and trust your life to a mechanical safety device.
Oh no you dint! I just saw this. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!! "rlol"

I can respect that. Pleased to meet you. :tiphat:

Slight clarification on my M-1 bolt disassembly. The firing pin didn't go flying, just the extractor. But boy did the extractor fly a good distance. That little plunger was not easy to find.

Yep. I keep seeing all these threads about field stripping, flying springs and tools and pulling triggers, and think to myself, "I don't have any of those problems..."

Check out Dave Dawson's Toolless Guide Rod. It's the greatest thing since crushed ice. I have them on all of my 1911s. He only makes them for Govt size models, but I'm ragging on him to make them for Commanders..

Would that be one of the first two items on this page? http://www.dawsonprecision.com/Category ... GUIDE+RODS
