Uhh, I went to AA center and only saw a gun busters sign, no metal detectors in use. However, there was a sign saying EMPLOYEES entrance has active metal detectors.

That being said any SPORTING EVENT at AA center is a no-go.

What about a Semi-Pro sporting event like the Allen Americans in the Allen Event Center?

I've often wondered about the semi-pro event. I like going to the Frisco Rough Riders baseball games. However, I don't think the level is going to make a difference. Pro is still pro.

I've also been to the AAC for Stars games this season. The walk-through metal detectors are gone and the people with the wands don't wand everyone. I've been three times and haven't been wanded yet and neither has my wife.

PC46.035(2) states: "On the premises where a high school, collegiate or professional sporting event or an interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and an handgun is used in the event;"

The Allen Americans are not "semi-pro" - they are a professional hockey team, albeit NOT a top-tier (NHL) team. All the player are paid, and they are marketed as "Professional."

This statutes says to me that in addition to the sporting events listed, one may also not carry a handgun in places where other "interscholastic events" such as math competitions, debates, etc.

Again, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and smells like a duck, one should assume it is a duck, unless one has further undeniable proof that it is in fact, not a duck.

Yes, there is no such thing as "semi-pro". It's professional, or it's not. And if it's not professional, it's still off limits if it's a college, high school, or interscholastic event.

Is anyone else bothered that they consider it a "right" to confiscate your cameras and such that are not illegal, but simply against the rules? AA Center apparently believes that someone could walk up with a professional camera, and they can take it and escort you from the building, no questions asked. After all, it's their right.

Well, in many states, it's "their" house, and you have to abide by "their" rules. Legal or not, it's just like fighting a gun busters sign - you may be right, it'll cost you a fortune in lawyer fees to find out. And if you do it again, they'll throw you out again.

+1 !! It's just like I have said before on here, it doesn't matter about whether the sign is a legal or illegal 30.06 or just a gunbusters sign. You will still be going to jail, and have to pay bond/legal fees to get out. Your weapon will be confiscated and your plastic taken. As they are carting you off in handcuffs be sure and tell them that their sign is illegal.

The legallity or illegallity of the sign is a defense, not a right to ignore.

They can't "reserve" anything they never had in the first place.

Why not just put up a sign saying, "No currency over $5 allowed. We reserve the right to confiscate all prohibited items." Could they just seize all your cash? Of course not.
