Nice Gun!!! I was at the Ft Worth gun show too and bought a Kahr PM-9 with the stainless slide with night sights. My brother and I got there about 9:30 and I was on a mission to find that particular setup. Hope to go to the range Friday when I get off work.

Wow, do you remember the dealer? All the dealers I saw only had 40s in black or 9s in stainless. I saw a couple in black but they were in .40 including the one with night sights. I just think the .40 in such a small package would be hard to shoot well which was my entire aim with the PM9. Anyway, let us know how it shoots!

Nice setup. I'm in the process of getting CT's for my Kahr P380. I also think some night sights would be a great addition to that package as well.

Nice score! I have been wanting a PM model for a while now. I love my P40 and is my daily carry. It would be nice to have the pocket size option of a PM as needed. If I do, I am leaning towards the PM45. Finding a decent (& affordable) holster I could try out in person was a challenge and is how I serendipitously started making my own. I bet your choices are even more limited with CT on it, good luck.

I just got home from there about an hour ago. I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 45 in dark earth.

I just purchased a M&P Fullsize 45 in December and have nothing but good to say. Not to hijack the thread either so I will post on yours above.

I had the day off from class so I decided to break this pistol in proper at Dietz in New Braunfels. For a true reliability test, I used 40 rounds of Monarch Steel cased, 50 of Federal Brass cased, 100 Remington Brass cased, and 10 Hornady Critical Defense FTX. I am proud to report that I had no malfunctions at all. I chambered rounds both with the slide release on a full magazine as well as racking the slide on a full magazine. I bring the last part up because I hear many who have NEVER shot a Kahr knock the pistol for "not being able to rack the slide to chamber around ala manual's instruction." Well, I was a rebel and did it about 5 times and had no problems with it going into full battery. Recoil was pronounced but not painful at all. I also tried the shooting the crimson trace only focusing on the laser and can say that CT did a good job with their factory sighting. Only negative is the stippling on the back of the grip begins to make your hand a bit red and puffy after awhile. Of course, I don't plan on shooting 200 rounds every range session either lol.



First Target of 100 rounds at 7 and 10 yards and only sights. I think I got spoiled with my 1911 trigger haha!



Second Target of next 100 round at 7 and 10 yards, 1 15 yard string. Mainly regular sights and some using the CT laser at 7 yards. I was honing in on it!



Last target. 7 yards with Hornady Critical Defense and regular sights. I pulled HARD on the first round so it was off target, but the other 9 landed close enough for the social work it was meant to do if called upon

Had night sights installed this weekend. I can't say I am happy about it as Dietz returned it with a lot more scratches, nicks, and dings than I gave it to them with and I know this because i gave them an almost brand new gun that had never been carried nor dropped! I tried to shrug it off as it is a carry gun, but i cant say i am really happy about drift punch marks on my slide . Any who, the sight picture on the Meprolights has a lot of "play" in it so I can't be as accurate as i was with the factory sights. However, it is more than adequate still at its intended purpose which is to save my life potentially! Another 200 rounds today using Remington, Federal, and Blazer aluminum and it still hadn't missed a beat! +1 for Kahr, -1 to Dietz workmanship.

P.S. The man who worked on it was very accommodating to adjusting the sights as I kept walking into the shop to have them adjusted to impact further right 2 or 3 times FWIW. Im not particularly mad at the shop, but lets just say I won't be going back anytime soon for handgun work.

I picked up a PM9 a month ago and still havn't made time to take her to the range. The previous owner said he couldn't get it to feed a round using the slide release. I'm not looking forward to shooting four to five hundred rounds of Ranger +P+ ammo before I use it to carry

IMHO, 400-500 rounds of range ammo (such as Winchester White Box FMJ) and one box (50 rounds) of your chosen carry ammo should be sufficient. YMMV, as may other folks'.

Drift punch marks??!!!

Professionals (and even nonprofessional serious users) use sight pusher tools to prevent this very issue. Use of a drift punch on a tritium sight can easily crack or break the vials and allow the tritium to leak out - a very bad thing.

It will also invalidate the warranty. How would the manufacturer know? By the drift punch marks on the sight itself.

IMHO, 400-500 rounds of range ammo (such as Winchester White Box FMJ) and one box (50 rounds) of your chosen carry ammo should be sufficient. YMMV, as may other folks'.

For all my different carry pieces I prefer to:
clean the firearm
shoot around 500 rounds of FMJ and prob 300 rnds of Rangers and make sure there are no FTF/FTE (without cleaning the gun at all)
clean again
then carry

I know it sounds a little extreme but that's just the way I am

Nice gun, and congrat in joint to kahr family! One thing I would like to comment on would be what you said about your thoughts of the pm40 about how it would jump to much. I would have to disagree I myself have a pm45 and have no problems handling the recoil on it, sure it jumps more than a full size would but definitely not uncomfortable.

I think you will find the PM45 will not have as much felt recoil due to the difference in rounds. 9mm and .40 are high pressure rounds, and exert more pressure (~34K & ~32.6K psi max respectively.) .45 is a lower pressure round (~21K psi), so you should find the recoil is much less 'snappy' for the .45 than either the 9 or .40. and in turn more manageable IMO.

I don't believe the PM9 is rated for +P+, just +P
