Well. I remember sometime in the 80's my sister was in a hospital in El Paso with a case of kidney stones. When I went to visit her I went into her room and there on a table was a six-pac of Coors. It had been prescribed for her to try to get her to the pass the stones. Must of worked because she got out a day or so later without an operation. Probably would not fly today.

I don't want to say it has happened, but I seem to recall a post about a 51% sign in Sherman, if that helps.

Lewisville hospital had one the last time I was there...maybe they sell that much isopropyl.

I seem to remember that there was some provision in the health and safety code (pre-1997) that required hospitals to post against (then illegal) CHL carry using a 51% sign. Apparently it may still be there, though it has no legal bearing.

I thought Steve R. might have heard of it...anyone?

Government Code 411.204 requires hospitals and nursing homes to post signs that are the same as the 51% sign EXCEPT for the red 51. But someone decided it was easier to find and use the 51 signs, so they went with what they could find. So some hospitals still have the signs posted and make it look like they are TABC 51% premises.

You cannot carry in hospitals with or without any type of signage. Please read the law directly and don't ask people what the law says. You can get yourself in big trouble. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, and intentionally displays the handgun in plain view of another person in a public place.
(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:
(1) on the premises of a business that has a permit or license issued under Chapter 25, 28, 32, 69, or 74, Alcoholic Beverage Code, if the business derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale or service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption, as determined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission under Section 104.06, Alcoholic Beverage Code;
(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;
(3) on the premises of a correctional facility;
(4) on the premises of a hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code, or on the premises of a nursing home licensed under Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code, unless the license holder has written authorization of the hospital or nursing home administration, as appropriate;

If you want to quote the law, then quote it all because you FORGOT a very important section, section I that renders section B-4 without force and merit if section I is not followed and section I reads as follows

(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06

So that renders you wrong
