There are folks, maybe even a few on this site, that see nothing wrong with desecrating the flag.
. :txflag:
Why the heck would anyone burn the US flag? People died for that, man. If you don't love it, then leave it.

I will be there WAVING my flag and wearing a flag.

You do know that wearing the flag is also considered disrespect of the US flag per the US Code? United States Code title 36 Chapter 10 §176 (d)

BTW, good plug on the Bill Bennett show this morning on AM 1070 Houston from a caller for the Clear Lake area rally. Last Tea Party I attended there was packed, two or three thousand. Parking is going to be a problem so show up early! :patriot:

I just saw this article. There's apparently a left wing group who believes the majority of Tea Partiers are "homophobes, racists, or morons". They intend to infiltrate Tea Party rallies on April 15 and scream racial epithets and otherwise do things to besmirch Tea Partiers in order to hurt the movement.

I thought Progressives were all about entertaining all ideas, freedom of speech, and the idea that dissent is the highest form of patriotism? That is, after all, what I was told during the Bush years.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/04 ... dismantle/

ALBANY, New York -- Opponents of the fiscally conservative tea party movement say they plan to infiltrate and dismantle the political group by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic.

Jason Levin, creator of http://www.crashtheteaparty.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, said Monday the group has 65 leaders in major cities across the country who are trying to recruit members to infiltrate tea party events for April 15 -- federal tax filing day, when tea party groups across America are planning to gather and protest high taxes.

"Every time we have someone on camera saying that Barack Obama isn't an American citizen, we want someone sitting next to him saying, 'That's right, he's an alien from outer space!"' Levin said.

Tea party members said the backlash comes from ignorance.

"They can't actually debate our message and that's their problem," said Bob MacGuffie, a Connecticut organizer for Right Principles, a tea party group that also has members in New York and New Jersey.

The tea party movement generally unites on the fiscally conservative principles of small government
, lower taxes and less spending. Beyond that the ideology of the people involved tends to vary dramatically.

Levin says they want to exaggerate the group's least appealing qualities, further distance the tea party from mainstream America and damage the public's opinion of them.

"Do I think every member of the tea party is a homophobe, racist or a moron? No, absolutely not," Levin said. "Do I think most of them are homophobes, racists or morons? Absolutely."

The site manifesto says they want to dismantle the Tea Party by nonviolent means. "We have already sat quietly in their meetings, and observed their rallies," the site said.

Another tea party organizer said the attempt to destroy the movement was evidence its message is resonating.

"We've been ignored, we've been ridiculed. Well, now they're coming after us," said Judy Pepenella, a co-coordinator for the New York State Tea Party. "Gandhi's quote is one we understand: 'First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."'

Also in the US Code:

"(k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

I'll spell it out. The act of some punk setting an American flag on fire, waving it around, then throwing it on the ground and
stomping on it tends to upset me just a tad. Maybe I'm just a sentimental old fool, but I'm also a patriotic old fool that
respects the lives that have been lost protecting that flag and serving our country.
I also understand what a proper flag burning ceremony is, that is entirely different and performed in the right setting quite
touching.

Rather than direct more traffic to their site, here's a shot of the front page:

I think that is good advice regardless of context!

That's it! Hawaiian shirt for sure! Plus my TSRA baseball cap(tan with blue bill).

I assume that the speakers will be on the pitcher's mound. Anybody know? If that's the case, I will be in the "3rd base party deck" if it's open:

Hope to see you all there! :txflag:

Hey hey hey now, that is stereotyping. I grew up in the Ozarks (Missouri, but close to the border) and I have all of my teeth (in a jar) and no stains on my camo (mama makes a GOOD batch of lye soap!!

Definitely planning on it - hoping to get some friends out too. I don't have a hawaiian shirt. Thinking I may make a stop today or tomorrow to get one to wear out there. I can't truly consider myself CHL without at least one, can I?

Uh, where does one go about getting one of those shirts, anyway?

And I love that Ghandi quote in the article!
