At least you got an employee handbook. I think I am going to have to put a call in to HR on Tuesday to get one - I was never provided one!

Good thing I'm more of a man than to claim "well you never said I couldn't/had to...."

That makes you more of a man than I, by your definition. Maybe it's because I expect my chain of command to vehemently deny any orders given unless I provide written proof to the contrary. And even then, "Oh, that was just a guideline. You are expected at all times to use sound professional judgement, so you should have known better than to follow those orders in that situation (which blew up in our face)."

Memories fade, and time plays tricks. This is the age of information overload. Unless my employer has a signed acknowledgement that I have received and read a certain document, then I never received it!

Loyalty goes both ways.
