The people making the threats on the web site gave out multiple address in which to find Matt and Trey and carry out thier threat if they so choose to do so.
Like I said, I think it sucks they have to edit the episode but I still think its the smart move to make to avoid conflict.
I was at work all night and just now got to watch the video in full.
I agree with what they said about it being hypocritical to not put certain content in thier show because they dont want to offend certain groups but the groups Trey mentioned in the video(i.e. Catholics, etc) are not the ones making threat on their lives with a proven track record of following through on thier threats.
I agree, we should not let some radical influence the decisions of the creators or execs but the facts remain.

This could be all scare tactics but you just dont know, maybe its legit. Would you bet your life on it?
Also, think about this...Matt and Trey and pure comic brilliance!
By CC editing the episode they have taken a step to insure that Matt and Trey dont get killed and are able to keep making shows and in turn keep making the network and the execs big bucks. Im not saying this was the biggest motivating factor for them to decide to edit the show but it had to have crossed their mind. No more Matt and Trey....No more new South Park.

The warning was posted on the New York-based website Revolution Muslim. In an article that suggested that Parker and Stone would "probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show", a writer calling himself Abu Talhah al-Amrikee listed the addresses of Comedy Central's New York office as well as Stone and Parker's production office. He also posted a link to a piece giving details of the house that the two rent.
Its a very real threat in my opinion.
Someone making threats on your life and posting where you work and live on the internet for anyone to have is a serious issue.
Not to mention the extremist that may feel like he has something to prove to his extremist brothers and take this to the next level on his own. It may have all just been a "warning" up to this point but this guy decides to suprise his brothers by following through on someone elses threats.
The Revolution Muslim website frequently praises jihadi violence. Al-Amrikee has recently posted messages praising the suicide bombers who struck in Moscow and celebrating the Polish aircraft crash that killed 96 people, including the country's president.

He later told the Associated Press that the message was not intended as a threat but as a warning. Asked if Parker and Stone should feel threatened by it, he said: "They should feel threatened by what they did."
If CC allowed it to air and I had anything to do with the show I'd constantly be looking over my shoulder.

Im just looking at it from a worst case scenario here, and youd have to be blind not to be able to see it this way too.....potentially.
Yes, they should be able to do what they want. Is that the reality? Not right now......

I don't think the creators have ever been about avoiding conflict given that they have picked on just about any issue/celeb thats big enough to pick on. If they want to put their neck on the line, that's a choice that they should be able to make - freely. I don't wish them harm, but they already "went there" with the issue on the first controversial Muhammad 2 part episode. The whole point of South Park is usually to call out people on some of the ridiculous things that go on in this world, and this is ridiculous. I guess we should all go literally bury our heads in the sand so we don't get bombed by the terrorists...

You see what I did there? :smilelol5:

Agreed, Thats what makes the show so funny.
But sadly, as we all know, when you work for someone else you dont get to call all the shots.

I do see what you did, apparently Im just an ostrich for looking at it from both sides.

im not sayin I like the fact that the powers that be edited the episode, but I can deffinitly see it from their POV. And honestly Im a little suprised no one else on this thread can see it from the other side as well. Yes, they should have the ability to put whatever they want into thier show, but this time(after threats on thier life) the highers ups said no. Im just saying, I cant blame em for doing so.

Comedy Central is covering their own rear. I doubt it's out of deep concern for Matt and Trey.

How hard would it be to "accidentally" leak the uncensored episode to the p2p, .torrent networks and less-popular-than-Youtube (thus less regulated) flash media sites? Seriously, if anyone with an internet connection can get full dvd-quality movies before they're released in theaters... then there is a way for "someone" to "steal" and upload the episode.

Has anyone thought about what would happen if a Muslim extremist actually succeeded in killing Matt and Trey? I think it would be a huge step in the right direction back to reality and away from political correctness in many (especially younger) people's minds.

Don't mess with people's entertainment, they take that seriously. Sad, but true.

My problem with Comedy Central editing the episode is that they poke fun every everyone and all religions, but now it is everyone BUT Islam. IMO, the hypocrisy comes from the fact that they will continue to make fun of everyone else.

Does anyone think that if some crackpot Christian site made death threats that they would stop making fun of Jesus and Christians?

I do see the other side, but its simply a falsehood position. Appeasing a bully doesn't stop him, it emboldens him. Any action that serves to reinforce a behavior is likely to produce that behavior again, and that is a heavily supported construct. To each his own I suppose though. Either way, South Park is still going to be on my TV every Wednesday!

If everyone did, they wouldn't be able to target all of them for threats and execution. :thumbs2:

EDIT: Well, on second thought, I guess they could. Though this would force people to confront their PC views of all the love and happiness that these people secretly feel behind their cold, hard, exterior.
