Re: Walmart ammo limit lifted

Plenty of 9mm and .40 at my Wal-mart but not one box of .45. I can't remember the last time I have seen a box of .45 at my local Wal-mart.

Ditto. I've been tempted to get an LCP as a BUG but as long as .380 is so hard to find...surprise_i'm_armed wrote:Same thing with .380. Although there's some nice .380
pistols available, why get one if the ammo supply's non-existent?
I have heard that steel cases can cause premature wear on the extractor. Don't know how true that is though.Abraham wrote: The only thing that concerns me is how tough on he gun they might be - if at all...?
I've been buying Federal 9mm @ WM for around $9.60 a box... and I have had zero problems with any of my Glocks (or XDm) eating it.Abraham wrote:Because of that high cost, (shame on you Walmart) I bought some "steel cartridge" Monarch 9 MM at Academy Thursday for $9.97 a box.
It's not ObamaCare. You don't have to buy it if you don't like the price or seller's business model.Embalmo wrote:Grrrrr. Let's figure out a way to further increase scalping and hoarding.
Another problem with steel cases is that both of the indoor ranges I shoot at (Top Gun and Memorial) will only let you shoot brass.USA1 wrote:I have heard that steel cases can cause premature wear on the extractor. And what does this comment have to do with furthering the hoarding of ammo? I would love to buy ammo at Wal-Mart, but as I've heard from Wal-Mart employees, the first person that gets there buys every box of .380 that is in stock. If Wal-Mart were to put out an entire pallet of .380, some moron would buy the entire pallet at 7:08 AM. I wrote Wal-Mart off for .380 long ago, but I've often fantasized that someday one could buy it there consistently. If they keep up these policies, I'm just gonna' have to start buying my ammo at Target!tacticool wrote:It's not ObamaCare. I agree SIA. The wife carries the .380 and I carry a .45. I'm still at the point that if I find either, I buy it. Like I posted here before, the WWB 100 count at the Cedar Hill Wal Mart was the first I'd seen at any Wal Mart that I can remember. The wife is looking at a 9mm of some kind for carry, so maybe she will be able to buy ammo whenever she gets ready. Til then, I'll keep buying instead of shopping!surprise_i'm_armed wrote:As I consider a moveup gun, I want to go with a .45 in
some flavor, but I also want to be able to buy at Wally's
prices. But Wally's has not been able to supply .45 on any
kind of regular basis.
Since .40 is so available I may compromise and make my
next gun a .40.
Same thing with .380. Although there's some nice .380
pistols available, why get one if the ammo supply's
non-existent?

I would far rather buy Federal vs Monarch - and thanks for the heads up.
I go to three different Walmart stores, so I'll check all three for Federal from now on.
The concern regarding extractor wear being greater with steel cartridges makes me wonder if it's because brass is softer thus making it easier on the extractor or ...?
