The lamp itself is a tiny glass tube coated on the inside with phosphor, then filled with tritium gas and sealed by laser - the tritium excites the phosphor and makes it glow, much like a cathode-ray tube TV set. Those glass tubes are usually sealed into a little aluminum tube with silicon for shock-absorption and then topped with a sapphire lens - the whole thing is the lamp
I saw a patent last week for Wilson Combat - they must be coming out with their own version of a fiberoptic-and-tritium sight sometime.
It must be nice to have young/good eyesight. I need the wide sights (big sights are a accurate). Helps to dispell all the fuzziness.
