What kind of guns are you putting into the washer? Looks like that would remove lubricate from the actions, especially on a revolvers where the action
and greased parts are internal under covers.

Semi-auto handguns, military surplus rifles (cosmoline removal). The only revolver I've cleaned that way was Colt replicas. I would not try it with a S&W, unless I were about to detail strip it.

I like brake cleaner, synthetic motor oil and turtle wax. Cheaper and as good as most gun stuff.

I keep it simple. #9 in the bores. Hoppes Oil to lube and wipe down all other metal parts.

ATF (automatic transmission fluid) mixed 2:1 with mineral spirits. My variation of Ed's Red

I use KG1 and KG12 for cleaning, KG4 & 5 and Slide Glide for lubrication. I have also used Berryman's Chemtool Engine Degreaser and B12 to clean. After using those, you need to thoroughly lube all parts.

Single step Gunzilla makes a whole lot of sense!

Works like CLP without the smell (very important in my house). It's great for cleaning, but the real payoff is how easy it is to clean the firearm after you've used it.

I also use Militec 1 and Gunbutter.

In all honesty, as long as you clean and lube your guns regularly, it's hard to go wrong with just about any gun cleaner and lubricant.

My neighbor worked for Inland Technologies for a while. They provide cleaning and lubricating solutions to the industrial, military and LEO community. He gave me some samples of these which are used in military and LEO washers:

The lubrication solution is really cool as it dries completely but leaves a microscopic layer of protection. Not sure what I will do when I run out of the pint sized samples he gave me.

Run the glocks through the dishwasher maybe?

Thanks guys, a lot of good info out there. I guess I'll just stick with the Hoppes and Militec, maybe it's just the gizmo junkie in me that wants the parts washer?

Someone gave me a bottle of M-Pro 7 Gun Cleaner for ? I can't remember ?

I didn't try it for a long time then, one day, I had this really gunked up barrel and it worked really well. Furthermore, after several hundred rounds through the same gun, there was a noticeable difference. It was easier to clean after each use, just like the bottle says.

I haven't got a clue what's in it but it doesn't smell and I almost feel like I'm using soapy water. It's not..... is it?

I use Hoppes #9 solvent, Hoppes #9 oil. and Break Free CLP. For places that are easy to reach, I like to use the two Hoppes products and for hard to reach places, I like to use Break Free.
