Another consideration: would the .40 S&W magazines fit into your 19's magwell?
Oops, I was thinking extractor, not ejector. Still, how much difference would there be? (Which is why I'm asking y'all about this: I don't know.)

The dimensions on the different mags are identical, but, I admit that I haven't tried to seat one of my G23 mags into the G19.

There is a difference. That difference would probably result in a non-functioning firearm.

The only difference to make the swap, would be to change out the ejector with the one for the 40 from the 9mm. Your 40 mags will fit fine in the frame. The 19 and the 23 frames are exactly the same size. Only the frames from the 45 and 10mm are not interchangeable. Robar does the best work as far as grip reduction is concerned. Your other option might be to find a 2nd generation framed gun without the finger grooves.

That is exactly what I decided to do while shopping for a Glock 22.....I have been very happy with the 2nd gen gun.

If all you want to do is swap the entire slide assembly and magazines then, yes, it will work. It's not ideal, but it will work.
