When I was in college (junior college before I transfered to A&M) I passed the County Sheriff (not a deputy) that was in his private car on the way into the office.
I was doing about 105-110 according to my tach (I left the speedometer at 85). He pulled me over, lectured me for about 20 minutes and then told me. "Now that I have cost you all the time you made up by speeding, if you can control yourself till you get up to the college I will let you off with a verbal warning"
"Yes Sir" never came out of my mouth faster.......LOL

Re: Showed my CHL for the first time...
I was on an open stretch of I-10 coming back to San Marcos from Houston on the day I bought my 2006 Pontiac GTO. Very little traffic, in a brand new (to me) car, and I figured I could open it up a little... well I was coasting back down to the speed limit when I passed a DPS Trooper travelling in the opposite direction, and my low fuel light came on at the same time. He didn't accelerate or hit his lights, so I didn't slam on my breaks and just kept coasting. I'd almost filled up my entire gas tank by the time the trooper caught up to me. He got out of his car and asked me why I was going so fast. Not one to bury myself, I asked him how fast he was talking about. 115mph honestly didn't sound that bad to me (considering that he was a couple minutes off from passing me at 165mph+), but I took the "that seems a little fast to me, but it's a new car..." approach. He kindly informed me that he could take me to jail, but instead just wrote me a ticket, all this after thinking the car was stolen at first. Got that all cleared up since I had it on my insurance already and a had a copy of the bill of sale etc.
Did I mention the bus full of cheerleaders staring at me through the whole thing? They were as surprised as I was when I didn't go to jail. Well, after the officer was done with me, I went inside and bought a Gatorade. I then continued on my way and called the judge's office. I told the nice lady that I was pulled over at a gas station for 115mph over, that I think there's a chance that the officer might have been mistaken, and that I didn't want to argue because he said he could take me to jail. I then offered to fax her my gas receipt (timestamped 10 minutes before the ticket) and my Gatorade receipt, with the ticket time being nicely between them. Right there, deferred adjudication, done deal. Had to call back in when they actually got the physical ticket though, but I got the same lady and she remembered me.
Spent the first 6 months with my GTO driving like a grandma though.
I'm not saying it's right to break the law and speed, I just never got into using drugs to get my jollies in.
