I bought a Heritage a couple years ago, used. $99 with both cylinders. Looked like it had been fired extensively with magnums, and not much use on the .22LR cylinder. No idea on total round count.
After a couple of uses, I found the cylinder not advancing properly. I took it apart (using Colt directions) and found the "hand" had come apart. It wasn't very well made, but a new one cost $8.00 and did not require much fitting to work. I sold it not long after.
I liked that it had great adjustable sights, and was fairly accurate. I only shot CB caps through it. For the money it's a decent buy, but it's basically an inexpensive pistol, with an alloy frame and a painted finish. For a little more money you can get a blued Single Six, used, and have a solid steel heirloom. For that matter, I consider a nice used H&R 949 a better gun for about the same money as a new Heritage. In fact a H&R 950 is now in the same place in my safe as the Heritage once resided.

I like everthing about the Model 751PD, except the price. ;-) The Taurus' I've seen and handled at the gun shows, IMO lack the fit and finish of the Smith's.

Don't go to gunbroker. They ripped me off and erased my negative review of the ripoff artist. I disrecommend gun auction sites, but if you must use one, use gunsamerica.com as they have not ripped me off. Do FTF transactions only when buying guns or use an escrow service. I learned the hard way.

I believe that Rex B mentioned the H&R 949. That was the first handgun I bought when turning 21 back in 1974. If I remember correctly, I paid $39.95 for it at Gibson's Discount Center, which was a pretty good chunk of change for a young married guy living on a fairly meager salary at the time. I put thousands of rounds through it over the years, including a few hundred of those being rat shot, and the gun was always reliable and shot well. Unfortunately, it was stolen in a burglary in 1986. The 949's were decently made and would be a good find if available, but very rarely show up on the market now.
