That would be my response. And also, as the owner of 4 S&W revolvers, only one of which has no lock, I've noticed that you don't see lockless S&W guns just laying around everywhere. My lockless Model 29 isn't for sale at any price. Examples of lockless guns that are actually for sale are rare as hen's teeth. Lot's of people have one. Few are selling them, and they fetch a premium here too. So I don't think you'll net much profit if any once you've replaced them. What that means for you is that, if you sell your guns in California, you're going to find it much harder to replace them with like kind than you had anticipated, and you'll kick yourself for having done so.

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
