Thanks for those links.
He is much more articulate than I am.
It's almost straightened out in my mind now, although I'm still trying to over-analyze the interaction between 46.15(b)(6), 46.02 and 46.035(a).
Next thing you know, I'll be thinking that the literal meaning of the law is that open carry anywhere is legal.
Good thing I'm not a lawyer.

I have always open carried while hunting. What is the difference in carrying A loaded rifle & or A loaded hand gun?? I am on private property with permission to be there to do what ever I want to do, hunt, shoot rabbits or hogs or what ever by the land owner. My boys who do not have CHL's also open carry while hunting. I see no big deal with it!!!!!!!!!
