If I knew how to insert video I'd load a video of my M1A being shot at night. Another lesson from shooting at night is that night sights and a good flashlight are very important. They don't take the place of each other. I've had the target illuminated by flashlight and I couldn't see my sights unless I brought the flashlight by my face so it would be behind the sights and illuminate the sights to. They are both tools that work in conjunction with each other.

XS is a Texas company based in Ft. Worth to boot!
I've got a set of XS big dots sitting in my safe that I'm waiting to install that I notice every time I open the door.
They won't blind you or anything but are, IMO, very bright.
They look sa-weet and I can wait to send em of and have em put on.

Just got the XS big dots last week and immediately installed them. It took me about 15-20 minutes, but if you watch the youtube video, it only took him about 8 minutes (including the commentary). 2 hours later and I'm shooting them at the range. Love them!

The XS big dots look great for a defensive pistol. Quick target acquisition and plenty bright. Not the best for punching tiny little groups in paper though. Big dot=fast on target...big dot=less precision for grouping. :fire

Here is the response to my contact with TruGlo. I am still not sure if I want to go down the route of sending them back but I will call them tomorrow. I have posted this more as a warning than anything else. I am happy that they got back with me quickly and that they are prepared to remedy the situation but I am not sure about what chemicals they are talking about but I assume they mean gun cleaning solution or something like that...anyway ehre it is verbatum.
If you are seeing cracks, marks or clouding in the in the fiber the previous owner could have gotten chemicals on them. They will need to be replaced here by us. You can call in for an return number and they can make arrangements to have it sent in for repair.

AndyC wrote:Fiber is the weakest part of the whole luminosity chain as far as sights are concerned - they're generally considered to be a disposable item in the purely fiber-optic sights, but due to the design of the Truglo sight ie. a combination of fiber and a tritium lamp, it's not a user-replaceable component :(

Might be a good idea to take their info as advice for the future - don't get solvents on the sights themselves (as the previous owner had possibly done) if you can at all help it.
At one time I ordered a front sight with a fiber optic element for an AR-15. Before installing it, I examined the several replacement fiber elements that came with it and read the accompanying literature in detail (a bad habit, I know, but I can't break it.)

When I got to the part that said that this super duper can't be beat does everything combat sight shouldn't be used on a weapon intended for law enforcement or self defense, I knew I had learned everything I needed to know about that type of sight. I put it back in its packaging and returned it for a refund.

Update: After a discusion with Roy at T's I have just ordered some Trijicon sights for the G30. They will be in stock on Tuesday. Hoepefully they will be fitted pretty soon after that. :hurry:

Depending on how they pan out I may replaced the XD9's Truglos with them before too long.

Still, at least iron sights can still function as such even if any inserts fail.

True, but the sight I had ordered was a lot more expensive than plain iron.

Needless to say, the catalog description didn't mention that little caution found in the documentation.
