Re: My Sig P238 test has begun.
I know my trigger pull is heavy, and Sig lists the trigger pull at 8lbs on their website. The trigger however is very short which makes the trigger pull seem less than it actually is. I also have some very good things to say about the gun and will post those in a day or two.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

My P238 trigger measures 6 1/4 lbs, but the short pull makes up for it easily.

The Colt Mustang mags do work, ocassionally they will not lock the slide back on the last round, makes no difference to me at the range if that happens, especially for the price difference, The Mustang mags were $19.00 if I remember correctly. They also have one with a finger extension that holds an additional round, I purchased mine at CDNN. A little known secret is if you send in your registration by mail to Sig you will get a call with "special offers" If you register them online then it is a coin toss if you will get the call as they do not need to manually enter the info into their computer system. I always get mags, 2 for $50.00 and get them for my various Sigs, they may take a few weeks to arrive though.

Re: My Sig P238 test has begun.
I went to Bayou Rifles this morning to shoot.
I was shooting my P238 and a young man next to me asked me about it.
I asked if he would like to try it out. He said yes, and then asked about the sights. I showed him my target where my shots were in about a 24 inch diameter circle (at 15 yds) around the bullseye, and I said I really didn't know.
He picked my next target and then shot three times with all the shots within a 4" circle. He's second shot hit the actual 1/2" dia red bullseye.
He had never fired this gun or a P238 before.
He said he was a pistol instructor. I had no idea the P238 in the proper hands was that accurate.
I have my work cut out for me to get that good.

Re: My Sig P238 test has begun.
Here's the best features of the gun in my opinion:
Short trigger (almost makes up for the heavy pull), Real sights, Night sights, very low recoil (One of my friends commented that it was almost like shooting a .22), thumb safety, slide lock/release, safety does not lock the slide (If cocked and locked).
I need to finish testing this thing and get a good holster for it ASAP because I really do prefer it over my LCP for use as a BUG. I have modified an LCP wallet holster to accept the gun, although the solution is less than ideal (It does secure the gun and cover the trigger).

My trigger also feels much less than 8lbs. I didnt measure but I would say 5 to 6 lbs. For the guys/gals who are thinking of buying one I can tell you that if you like a 1911 then you will love this gun.
Mine is also very accurate and my night sights are great. This was my first sig and for me i have no neg issues. Its funny because I like the holster. Keeps everything in a small package and the gun never moves while being held in it. Recoil is much less then my LCP. Its probably due to it being wider and a little heavier.
This is def gun that you forget you have on. I carry a 1911 in 45 and 10mm so for me to have a BUG with the same functions just makes sense. As far as price yes there not cheap. I paid 525.00 for mine. It was worth it for IMO. Cheaper then Dirt also has .380 in stk. I carry Hornady 95 grain defense ammo in mine.
Buffalo Bore makes a +P load that I believe is 100 grains around 1100 fps from a short barrel. Cant remember exactly the numbers but I know they were hot for .380 Take Care good luck.

Re: My Sig P238 test has begun.
I have been interested in the P238 because it functions like my 1911, but being a lefty, the lack of an ambidextrous safety is an issue. When I looked into it, it seemed that adding an ambi was not a possibility. Any developments in this area?

Same here, I don't know of any ambi-safeties for the P238. My advice would be to call or email Sig and ask them about it. They may have something waiting for just enough customers to request it before it enters production.

Thanks!
(Although that probably means more strain on the gun-buying fund.
