True. My P30 and HK45 both do this. When we do reload drills in my tactical class, it almost makes it unfair....especialy to the 1911 guys who have trouble hitting the slide release.

Here is a review with Auto-slide being shown in action at least 3 times. Also, the tester also discuss this "feature" in his review.

I had a Beretta PX4 that would release the slide with a loaded mag. I never tried to softly insert a mag cause there is no need to practice that. Slam it in and get back on target...I'll ask my Dad if his P30 does the same thing when I see him next.

My P30 does this if I slam the mag hard enough. Obviously, as pointed out above, some muzzle discipline is in order!

I recently had a bit of debate with my son after he returned from combat-shooting training, and I observed him using the "slide stop" of his M1911 as a "slide release." While I am not close to being a gunsmith, at recruit training many, many years ago, I had been taught, very forcefully by the drill sergeant, that doing this repetitively would guarantee that someday you would go automatic and become a hazard on the line.

How is the slide releasing on its own going to cause any wear other than on the release and slide? The hammer and FCG are completely unaffected by it moving up a little. How would this cause a 1911 to go full auto as the sear/hammer/disconnector would need to wear or break for that to happen. None of this is affected by the slide dropping. My HK USP 45 does this and I liked it on an IDPA course, saving a few seconds on the whole course can add up.
