I have a couple of those, and a couple of the Star B which is the larger version.
Excellent pistols, reliable and accurate.

I'm glad you found and posted that. I was trying to remember which site had the "Spanish Gun Board"....that's it - gunboards dot com! Every thing "Eibar Spain" you could want to know is there.... one of the members, I think he actually goes by the handle "Star" lives in Eibar and has acquired a huge volume of spare parts for Star pistols. He's probably the best source for replacment parts I know of now. I suppose he can still be contacted at that site if one needs to track down parts.

For what it's worth, my first BM was hand picked from a stack of dirty, dusty boxed up copies after I field stripped several of them. The one I chose had about the most holster wear of any, and enough metal to metal wear to confirm it had been used enough to prove reliable. Even with a 3.86" (if I remember correctly) barrel, that little gun was a tack driver.

Resist the temptation to detail dis-assemble the BM.

My previously reliable BM now resides, in several parts, in a cigar box. It is truly a 'basket case'. It has been paitently awaiting its turn on the gun doctors bench for a year or so.

If there is a Star BM mechanic located somewhere in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metromess willing to put this thing back together, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

Just retract the slide and engage the safety-catch (not the slide-stop) to hook into the second notch in the slide to hold it back. Pop out the slide-stop from the right-hand side and then hold the slide in place, dropping the safety to let the slide slip slowly forward and off (under control).

You can then pull out the recoil-spring guide and spring, rotate the barrel bushing and pull the barrel and bushing out. It's sorta-kinda like a 1911.
That sounds exactly like the procedure for taking down a Hi-Power. Well, up until the bushing silliness. ;)

Thanks Andy,

I live in NW Dallas/Farmer'sBranch around 635/I35. An e-mail was sent to my FFL/Gun mechanic asking about my status and place in the waiting line. I really don't think a basket case ranks high on a working smith's to do list. No response as yet. We'll see...

Seasonal business pays the bills.

Your offer is appreciated. I will give a few days for my gun guy to respond. If you are serious, I'd be grateful for your help.

Thanks, salty

Not mine to sell. It is owned by an elderly gentleman in our church. This was given to him "as is" & is all he has to carry.

I am glad it is a quality gun for him.

It has just been given to him. His present & only handgun is a Ruger P89. He has shot my 1911s & comfortable w/ them. He probably willwhen I get it back to him.

We talked about it last night at church.

OK final thank you report on the STAR.

Thanks guys on the help.
When looking at it I thought the slid should come on off after getting the slide stop out but it was hitting another "stop" about an inch forward. not knowing, I did not want to force it. Anyway, jsut a gunkie, dirty spot & I soaked it in Break Free for a while & it cam right off.

Will deliver it today.

Thanks again & sets all have a great day.

Andy,

The Star BM is back home and the world is spinning on greased hubs. It seems that a little something-or-other from around what a 1911 guy would call plunger tube stuff was missing.

The Gun Doc saw fit to machine/make a replacement part. It did not require a second loan on the deed or the sale of body parts. Curtis is a good guy.

I really like the BM. Its a handy size, single stack, 9X19, reliable single action. Whats not to like?

Thanks,

salty
