I have the Royal Guard for my 3" Kimber. It is a very well put together holster, but it just doesn't work for me. It moves around too much under my belt. The MTAC is not only more comfortable, it stays in place better too.

I'd be interested in trying your royal guard and possibly buying it.

And no CJ classes for me, I'm finishing up my Industrial Distribution degree. Nobody will now I'm packing in my classes except the UPD guys that I've met at training we've been do together.

I used the plastiC-Tac at q range day. Didn't go well, back at 5 o clock, it has hanging when I was drawing. Unacceptable.


Adjusted it we'll see how it goes.

I carry a PX4 in an MTAC IWB at about 4 o'clock. I had to try a few different positions, then a few different cants, and then adjust the ride height. BUT once I took the time to make those adjustments its completely comfortable. Sitting, driving, and day-to-day activities aren't a problem, and that's with a service sized pistol. I need to get a gun belt, which will help even more.

I have been looking into both the MTAC or Super Tuck Deluxe. On a full size 1911 do you use a full length kydex or do you go with one that is slightly shorter and let the barrel stick through a little? Is there a huge difference in the MTAC and the Minotaur Spartan?

M-tac has a full leather back with a half Kydex holster (leather is other half of holster). C-Tac is all Kydex holster with leather "wing" the belt clips are fastened on.

M-Tac leather is against your body and C-tac Kydex is against your body.

The combination of a decent belt and the MTAC is a hard combination to beat. Comp-Tac has a very good belt for a good price if you want black that is. Their brown sucks. I carry a full sized 1911 at about 3 o’clock and it is comfortable enough that I tend to forget about it most of the time. I also tried the CTAC and it did not work for me at all.

I also have an Infidel, all Kydex with belt loops, that I carry a Glock 23 in at the same 3 o’clock. This holster has a ridge on it that sits just above the belt and rests on it. Keeps the holster in a canted position at all times. Very good holster. I also have one for my 1911’s but I use the MTAC more often.

I probably have 20 or 30 holsters in a box in the garage. Tried everything until I found Comp-Tac. Comp-Tac makes good products at a reasonable price and they deliver quickly. They also give a LEO discount. Great company!

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck (IWB)that I carry at about 8:00 ( I'm left-handed). Sometimes I carry it at 7:52. Just a small adjustment one way or the other makes a big difference for me by moving the pistol off of a hip bone or keeping it from digging into my kidney. I'm slowly getting to the point where I am not always aware of its presence. I don't have any comparative information as this is my first holster, although I did use a Bagmaster for a while.

Oddly enough, before I purchased the Supertuck, I practiced just carrying tucked inside my waistband all the way from 6 to 9, and it felt more comfortable than with a holster. I wear cowboy boots so that if the pistol were to slide down a pants leg, it would just become an "ankle carry".

I'm thinking about getting the MTAC for a HK P7...I just can't decide between that and a TT gunleather holster. I think the advantage to the MTAC would be thinner and tuckable. But I like the idea of leather...I'll probably just have to buy both. :)

I ended up sending mine back for a refund. I was really disappointed it didn't work for me because it sure seemed like a good design. I suppose to the many who swear by them, it is a good design.
