Now you give me a list of abreviations! When I 1st started reading these forums I thought I was in a foreign language forum. After a while it all starts to make sense. That's when you gotta start worrying.
Gun people love abreviations it's like a code for members only.

Things like ACP are just abbreviations.

I'm surprised. I have run into very few people who know that laser is an acronym. Glad to know I'm not the only geek around here.

For those who didn't know, laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emmission of Radiation. IIRC (If I Remember Correctly).

Gee, I though everyone knew.

I am an electrical engineer, though not currently working as one.

heck, anyone who'd watched "Goldfinger" should have known that!

you remember the scene:

[Bond strapped to a bed of gold, the laser is switched on and starts burning up the slab of gold towards Mr. Bonds lower middle body.]

James Bond: I think you made your point. Thank you for the demonstration.
Auric Goldfinger: Choose your next witticism carefully Mr. Bond, it may be your last.
Airic Goldfinger: No, Mr Bond; I expect you to die.
James Bond: [sweat rolling off his face]
Auric Goldfinger:There is nothing you can talk to me about that I don't already know. The purpose of our last two meetings is now quite clear. I do not wish to be distracted by another. Goodbye, Mr. Bond.
James Bond: Well, you're forgetting one thing. If I fail to report, 008 replaces me.
Auric Goldfinger: I trust he will be more successful.
James Bond: Well, he knows what I know.
Auric Goldfinger: You know nothing, Mr. Bond.
James Bond: Operation Grand Slam, for instance.
Auric Goldfinger: Two words you may have overheard, which cannot have the slightest significance to you or anyone in your organization.
James Bond: Can you afford to take that chance?
Auric Goldfinger: [thinks for a moment, then orders the laser switched off] You are quite right, Mr. Bond. You are worth more to me alive.
[a technician approaches Bond, and fires a tranquilzer dart into his chest. Bond collapses into unconsciosness]

Yes there is. It is useful to know some abreviations, but hard to remember them all.

Just remeber:

There's No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. Also seen as TANSTAAFL, for "There Ain't No Such Thing..."

It was one of those complex Heinlein sayings, which had both social meaning, and an important lesson in free market economics.
