And we have to pass the proficiency test, for BOTH semi-auto and revolver, at 90%
(We only need to pass the written test -- the SAME test given to CHL students -- at 70%, just like CHL students.)
How much does it cost?

It seemed odd to me that they use the same (stupid) test for instructors, as for students. Seemed odd to me that instructors needed to prove proficiency at all. You don't need to know how to shoot well to teach the law -- or to be a RSO.WildBill wrote:That seems backwards to me, but I don't make the rules.sjfcontrol wrote:yes

Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."
Never Forget.

CHL instructors should have some handgun proficiency and knowledge of range safety rules if the CHL course require live firing [which it does]. It wouldn't look good if CHL students or instructor were injured or killed during the proficiency test.sjfcontrol wrote:It seemed odd to me that they use the same (stupid) test for instructors, as for students. I didn't say they shouldn't have handgun experience, but being able to shoot the bullseye does not prove handgun handling safety. That's what I was referring to about being an RSO (Range Safety Officer). That is the knowledge that will prevent injured or killed students. Not the ability to hit the bullseye.WildBill wrote:CHL instructors should have some handgun proficiency and knowledge of range safety rules if the CHL course require live firing [which it does].
