I don't know...Vermont is the Bluest of the Blue states. They have a Socialist (yes...REALLY) senator. I think their (lack of) gun laws are an accident of history. My guess is most of their residents would vote to secede and join Canada if they could.

Nevada, other than their crappy reciprocity has much more open laws than Texas. Permitless open carry, permitless car carry. Trespass law must be enforced by a verbal warning and a refusal to leave (signs don't cut it). Shall issue concealed permits. Complete pre-emption as of 2007. Only exception is someone residing in Clark County (Las Vegas) for over 60 days, must register pistols owned.
Registering of guns is one of the most onerous violations of ownership.

Vermont is different than most states. While it is a Leftist state, they really tend to be be in favor of limited government power. Its a farming state with lots of hunters, and small independant businesses. It also has a lot of small private collages. The people there do own a lot of guns and hunting is an important part of their lives. Any leftist who is honest would be 2nd amendment supporter it is a civil right after all. It is my observation that they consider themselves New Englanders first, Americans next Vermonters 3rd. They don't have a lot of regard for Canadians (Theb Canadiens come to Vermont to shop. Vermonters seldom go to Canadian Border towns. There was successionist talk of some on the eastern part of the state to join New Hamphire. no shots were fired,
