In other words, by buying it new, it's now "registered"??
Dohhhh!!!
No, it not registered. If the gun is used in a crime and is recovered by the police, they can request a trace. The manufacturer will be contacted to learn the identity of the distributor who bought the gun. The distributor will then be contacted to see which FFL received the gun. The FFL will then be contacted to see who he sold it to. You will then be contacted by the authorities about your gun and you will tell them you sold it to someone, or that it was stolen or lost, etc. The trace is then over. (This presumes you don't live in a state that requires all transfers to go though an FFL, or that doesn't require state registration of guns.)

Chas.

Now I understand....thank you!

Here are my thoughts on registration.

If "THEY" want to know who has guns, "THEY" could...

- look at all credit card sales at sporting good stores
- watch the NRA magazine being mailed and record all the addresses
- watch any other sporting magazine being mailed
- Force UPS to record all addresses on packages from sporting goods dealers.
- force the states to hand over lists of Hunting Licenses, Hunters Safety Students, and CHL holders
- Watch forums and news groups
- etc., etc., etc.

My name is on "The List".

My goal is to make "The List" so long that "THEY" don't mess with it.

My name is on so many lists it's not funny.

As for not messing with it, it is the length of the list (i.e., the vast number of Americans on it) that keep them from messing with it. We need to keep spreading the love and appreciation for guns and that will keep America strong and free. When we become a small minority, watch out!
