But the thought of your buddy in the back of the truck riding the rest of the way home got a good chuckle out of me. Poetic justice and all that.

What would you have done if you didn't have a pickup?
Make him walk?

Ha, yeah, he was not getting back into the cab! We had about a 10 mile ride back to where he lived. I guess because of the downward angle of the nozzle, the gas mostly soaked his jeans and the lower half of his shirt, but they were drenched. He took off his pants, shoes and socks, and climbed into the bed of the truck in just his T-shirt and boxers. Fortunately it was summer. I am really glad the sheriff did not pull us over, as that would have been tough to explain! Teenagers have a great ability to get themselves into ridiculous situations.

When you surprise a man, you never know if this is the reaction you'll receive.

My first busniess trip to Taiwan, afterhours I was walking around and had this bicyclist wearing typical bike garb (googles and helment) come up off of the street acting very agiated with me. Thought I was going to have to stop a native until he identified himself as a co worker from our ABQ office. Scary to be in a country where you don't speak the language and alone.

That guy gets extra points for maintenance of condition yellow, fast OODA loop processing, and nice boxing form.

I have the same problem but it was slightly worse once. I fell asleep on the couch after Thanksgiving dinner last year. Something touch my head and startled me awake. By the time I realized it was just my aunt's dog sniffing me I had my hand on my gun and almost out of the holster. Luckily no one noticed...

i once made the mistake of sneaking up on my buddy (purple belt in brazillian jiu jitsu) and wrapping my right arm around his neck in a mock 'rear naked choke' setup.

almost lost that arm.

Just so you all know, and can snicker...CombatWombat (who is the OP) is off in Austin getting pepper-sprayed as part of his reserve training. He was supposed to get Tasered as well. His wife told me that they gave the guys an option on the Taser part, and CW essentially said, "Um, no, that's ok". Smart boy.

Reserve military or reserve police?

I'm an MP in the TX Army National Guard, we were in NM livin it up and embracing the suck. We got OC qualified which was not a wonderful experience. Luckily I wasn't effected as bad as the majority of my buddies but it was not fun. If you've ever wondered if pepper spray or OC works... It does 18% is plenty effective. I watched 6' some odd guys drop to their knees from it. On a lighter note I gotta brag a little I shot expert on the pistol range and that has more to do with shooting on the civilian side than what the army taught me.

Probably because I've never been attacked and the only times I've ever been grabbed from behind, it has been a joke. It never even causes an adrenaline rush. Maybe one day that will change and hopefully not to my detriment.
Where I grew up that attitude will get you hurt.

I always just turn to see who it is, and react based on who I see. So far, it has always been someone I know. Pity the fool who doesnt know me and tries that.

I once nearly clobbered my wife when she surprised me from behind, I spun coming around for a sweep and there she was giggling...silly girl.

We watched a weird reality show for a while wherein they set up bizarre scenarios and went about scaring the "marks" - that same silly girl I married made the comment, "I notice they don't do any of these in Texas."
