When I was 18-20 I was stationed in Germany. During Octoberfest, we would stay at the beer halls til 5 AM, double time back to the barracks, throw on our PT clothes and be ready for 1st formation at 0600, complete with the daily 5 mile run. Those were the days!

Just wait til he gets to college. The studious ones who may not have had alot of freedom in high school are some of the most serious partiers in college, at least in my limited experience.
