I sure don't have any special tool for my Colt Defender. What am I missing?

Agreed. The whole thing has turned out to be only about compact format 1911s, after all.

I guess you and I are doing it wrong, because I don't need a tool for my Colt Commander either. Just my fingers. Then again, she has a lot of rounds through her and has loosened up a bit.

If this was intended for me, and that is not at all clear one way or another, I would suggest that missing something from one's self-defense handgun is not a "Molehill," but, in the right circumstances, it may be a "Mountain."

If not intended for me, pretend I didn't say this, and please accept my apologies.

I have a friend who recently acquired a Hi Point .380, which I will admit I was fond of until such time as I realized that a roll pin (or similar punch-style object) is required for field-stripping.

I've seen 1911s field stripped without any bushing tool,FWIW.

While I don't make a habit of doing a FS at the range, I do prefer to have the option if something comes up, and I'd rather not have to chuck something else into my range bag to give me the option. As far as SD scenarios go, chances are if you need to FS a gun in the heat of such a moment...well...how's your throwing arm? :biggrinjester:
