Re: .40 S&W carry ammo opinions
The 180 grain Hydro-shock was my first carry round when I first got my Glock 27. They all fired well and recoil was mild compared to some of the other companies loads in the same grain. I guess I went away from them because they seemed a little mild compared to other .40 loads and they are not cheap. There 10mm load is so anemic it is insulting. I wouldn't have any problem carrying them though, great round. The HST that cheaper then dirt has is all law enforcement over run and might be loaded hotter? A lot of law enforcement officers still carry and swear by them.

The HST is definitely hotter than the Hydra shock. There are several reports available on the HST now. Searching "Federal HST expansion" should give you some info.

180gr Remington Golden Sabers...all I will use period. Those loaded up in my little g27 have saved me from multiple hogs on multiple occasions, and I didn't even think a HP would make it through their tough skin.

I'm currently carrying Win 180gr bonded JHP:

I've also found it for sale in Academy in Austin.
