What a Californian considers a bunch, and Texan probably calls his EDC.mgood wrote:When I lived in California, a coworker I barely knew came up to me out of the blue and said, "You're from Texas? I bet you've got a bunch of guns, huh?"

I went on to add that "Out here it may be considered a bunch but where I come from it's a pretty small collection."

Well, let's see. On any given trip to the store, I may well be carrying my primary, a BUG in a pocket, and another BUG on the ankle just in case I can't get to the other two real easy. Oh, and then there is my new and improved car gun (Calico M950 with 100 rounds of 9MM JHP in the mag).karder wrote:What a Californian considers a bunch, and Texan probably calls his EDC.mgood wrote:When I lived in California, a coworker I barely knew came up to me out of the blue and said, "You're from Texas? I suppose a Kalifornian may well consider that to be a bunch, or a gaggle, or whatever. I don't really speak Kalifornian, so I'm not sure what they would call it.

"Arsenal" is the word you're looking for, I think.Katygunnut wrote:I suppose a Kalifornian may well consider that to be a bunch, or a gaggle, or whatever. I don't really speak Kalifornian, so I'm not sure what they would call it.

Nah, it's gotta be something more "evil" sounding. Maybe a "horde of weapons sufficient to arm a small militia".mgood wrote:"Arsenal" is the word you're looking for, I think.Katygunnut wrote:I suppose a Kalifornian may well consider that to be a bunch, or a gaggle, or whatever. Nope - we don't have "assault" rifles. However, we do have a decent selection of "sport-utility" rifles.WildBill wrote:I think you forgot assault rifle.Katygunnut wrote:I think the minimum number of guns for any self-respecting Texan is at least 9. All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

In Texas, you keep your "Arsenal" in a "bunker" on your "Compound"

A few years ago, I had four. I got up to nine for a while. I had three shotguns, three rifles, and three handguns (including a tiny NAA revolver to fill the revolver requirementKatygunnut wrote:I think the minimum number of guns for any self-respecting Texan is at least 9. 1 M1 Garand
1 M1 Carbine
1 M1903-A3
1 10-22
1 AR something
1 XD9
1 .22/45
1 NAA Guardian
1 PPKS
2 1911s
1 Flintlock
1 Caplock
&
1 Flobert
If I hadn't sold off a few there wouldn't have been room in the safe, the Kentucky rifles don't fit anyway, but I figure I have a good representation.
Actually the PPKS and XD9 are my wife's, but they are in the house.
