you can download the CHL handbook straight from the DPS website (for free) - they no longer mail those out to applicants (but they will send you one for $5.00 I believe).

Pay attention during class and you should be fine - you should cover all of the material needed to pass the course. No trick questions or anything that is in a "gray" area. You have to remember that there are no minimum educational requirements as long as you can read the questions and follow the directions for answering them.

It is a minimum of a 10-hour course. Make sure you are prepared mentally to sit in class for 9+ hours (range time is additional time). Eat a good breakfast and pay attention. Make sure your firearm is in good working order and that you have the required amount of ammo, along with your ears/eyes.
