This is only going to end in disaster for both criminals and homeowners.

Many people who try to uses knives as defense end up getting stabbed themselves."

Stabbing someone would be beyond my definition of "reasonable force". Also the cuts to legal aid will effect the weakest and most vunerable. Another case of justice only being available to the wealthy.

I though we are still primarily a country with christian values? I dont think killing is ever justified. We should forgive those who trespass upon us. The judiciary has a moral right to rehabilitate, other wise justice becomes spiteful and petty rather than morally objective. If you are burgled but not threatened with violence you should remain passive and expect the law to be effective.

Last I heard, the UK was attempting to outlaw knives and other sharp instruments.
Found this with a quick google search: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4581871.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.
When they're successful with knives, perhaps they will outlaw rocks next...

The same liberal stupidity is infecting this country too, especially in the urban areas.

Animals can be driven crazy by placing too many in too small a pen. Humans are the only animal that voluntarily does this to himself.

I would argue that we're not animals...

I agree with the sentiment, though. I'm not anti-social or anything, but large crowds make me itch. Maybe my parents just drilled the stranger speech into me a little too much when I was little. "rlol"

Oh, but we are animals. Just a different kind.

Also, wasn't there some court ruling somewhere here in the US that said we do not have a right to self defense from the police even if they are entering our house illegally?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Yes. They're wrong, though. They just don't know it yet. While I generally adhere to the "it's a free country" principle, it is quite annoying when lawmakers and judges are the ones who are exercising their right to be wrong. Even more so when they express their incorrect opinions in the forms of laws and court rulings.

Actually, they'll have to outlaw meat once they ban kitchen knives.

How so? Animals eat meat all the time without knives. :headscratch

Besides meat makes poor weapons! :biggrinjester:

I was about to say something about hot dogs, but then I realized we were discussing meat...

However, my heretofore unspoken point about hamburgers still stands: Hamburgers are meat, and I can eat them without a knife. To be fair, though, I must admit that I often require the assistance of a medium or large chocolate shake.

Anyway, I guess the UK is about to become a liberal meat grinder's paradise.

If one class of tools becomes unavailable, another will be adapted to serve the user's purposes. No matter how many implements they ban, when somebody wants to kill somebody else, he'll do it with whatever he can get his hands on, including a rock or a tree limb.

If they keep going at the present rate, they'll soon not be allowed to have any tools at all in that country. Since the leadership seems to be devoid of sense and the people devoid of courage, there's nothing I can see that might stop it.

Increased use of tools used to be thought of as signs of increasing intelligence and civilization.

There's a clue there regarding the direction in which the Brits are going.
