I replied because when I read this out loud to my family, my daughters eyes (teens) lit up. Also because some of my fondest memories of time with my dad are from shooting - guns and cameras. Had we the opportunity to do something organized like this, that would have been awesome.

We are fortunate in that my daughters, husband and I are able to attend classes put on by CompVest and SRVA often that allows for some "non-standard" practice. We also enjoy range time as a family as much as we can and "plinking" up at my inlaws.

I will let MAR answer for himself - although he sounded very interested. Looking forward to more info - do wish PSC were closer, but for an occasional thing like this and forum day it is not too bad from the North side. (but then again we are crazy and drive 3 hours or more for rabbit shows )

As DA mentions above, I am sure our daughter, or daughters, and I would be interested, schedules permitting.

I'm going to bring this subject up at the PSC Board meeting this Thursday. Thanks for the input folks.

As for scheduling, we will do it later in the year to avoid the oppressive heat.

Distance would be my issue. My daughter and I were shooting Saturday and Sunday in back part of our property. What a great time!

Maybe, if it takes off we could make it a full deal. When we were in WA state the Poulsbo Sportsman's Club would have outings like this a few times throughout the year. They would have hot dogs, soda, chips etc... They also had some interesting demonstrations to allow the kids to learn about basic marksmanship and let them shoot black powder.

Also, maybe we could raffle off a nice basic .22 rifle to cover the refreshments and hopefully really interest the lucky young lady in shooting by providing her with her own gun.

Just throwing ideas out that I have seen at similar events.

Great idea. I think some sort of training classes would be good as well if at all possible.

How about a lane with a "rotten boyfriend" silhouette shootoff for the dads. I know the epitome of evil in my mind is the guys who treat my little girls wrong.

Winner gets a free wedding reception. I guess we would need a pretty healthy sponsorship for that one eh???

Definitely a good idea. If my daughter were old enough we'd make the trip. For now she enjoys going with em to the show and mil-surplus shop near here. She loves playing "pow pows" already so I'm hoping it'll carry through :-)
