I totally agree...cyphur wrote:Sheeple's attitudes won't change until their local Walmarts and movie theatres go up in fertilizer-fueled explosions and their children's school busses start being suicide car-bombed.
When terrorism starts up domestically(more of a "when" than an "if" in my mind), people will realize the world is not as safe as they pretend it is.....
Bottom line is the mall terrorist guy didn;t seem to be all that bright to begin with...But that doesn't mean we should accept the playing down of this threat by our government one single bit...
I've already seen how the pundits have been playing it down on the news...REally pathetic...
And to think Chicago, Illinois (and upstate Illinois) is supposed to be this utopia of gun-control gun-free happiness...
Bullbutter...

I tend to doubt local level terrorist attacks will change the way a majority of anti-gun folks think. I believe their response to a local Walmart being attacked would be to call for better protection.
“Why didn’t the authorities catch this guy before it happened?
“I’m a taxpayer, and I demand protection!
“Isn’t this what the National Guard is supposed to protect me against? Why don’t they patrol where I live?
“Where was the FBI? They caught folks like this before, why didn’t they this time? Who slipped up?
I feel the trend will be to point fingers and find out who in Law Enforcement “should have seen this coming. The general trend will be “The government is responsible for my safety, not me..
Now the person at the Walmart at the time of the attack, saw it, and survived may rapidly transition to our side. Nothing like being exposed to helplessness to change your view of the world and who’s responsible for your security. But even that level of reality will not change the view of some. Their belief in the Government is responsible for their safety is unshakable, and they will take it to their grave if required…
Now personally, I don’t really care if someone thinks that way. I don’t agree, but so what? What I do dislike is they feel the need to force compliance to their view on me. They don’t like guns, so no one should be allowed to have one…You have an obligation to retreat if possible…Just call 911…If that’s how they want to respond, so be it, but allow me the right to retain responsibility for my own safety and actions.
For awhile we worked in a northern state, and my wife worked for a guy I would call a classic liberal. They were once crossing a busy four lane highway to get to the company buildings on the other side. The traffic was moving along at 50 mph and he just stepped out into the cross walk and started across. My wife waited for a break in traffic before she crossed. He wanted to know why she didn’t cross with him. Of course she stated the traffic. His answer was “Well people in the cross walks have the right of way…the cars are required to stop. How do you reason with someone who thinks like that?
