If he wasn't in a uniform, as a security officer he can't open carry and is subject to a UCW arrest.

Granted, uniform requirements are pretty lax in Texas, but just a badge and black clothes won't cut it. Minimum uniform requirements are markings with the company name, the word "SECURITY" and the officer's last name. Technically, this can all be accomplished on a company ID card pinned to street clothes, but still...
