I agree with you. . . and I think you reinforced what I said. CHLers at gun shows (and gun stores) MUST learn appropriate behavior.

1. The CCW is for protection only.
2. If it's concealed, it should remain concealed unless you need to use it.
3. No firearm should go from concealed to unconcealed unless there is an emergency.
4. A public gun show (or store) is NOT a private club of insiders. Laws about intentionally failing to conceal still apply and SHOULD be enforced.
5. If you are looking to sell a firearm, buy accessories for it, or otherwise think you'll need it out and on display, then unload it and lock it before coming in. Use another firearm for personal protection.

I wish these concepts were hammered into students in the CHL class, and I wish LEOs would enforce the law regarding such reckless behavior when it appears and that the community would discourage "flaunting" concealed pieces that are supposed to remain concealed. We could change the culture and mitigate these dangers.

FWIW, every gun show negligent discharge I've seen was a dealer's firearm that was improperly (read: not) cleared.

BINGO! If the rule was really about safety then EVERYONE would have to unload. FFL and shopping LEO too. Not just CHLs. The logical conclusion is it's not about safety, so I stopped going. I take my money where me and my EDC are welcome and everybody gets what they deserve.

Well, some of y'all might not care to go, but I'm glad I hauled my butt up there, even though I was feeling poorly. Managed to pick up a weapon that I'd been planning to get from Buds, for $50 less than their price, even with the tax. And, there's a $50 rebate going, as well. And to top it off, got to carry with my brand new piece of plastic today, as well.

A few "strange" looking people - a lot more "average Joe and Janets", and more than one hottie to make things more interesting. Only got barrel swept once (that I know of), and she apologized immediately. I'm glad the parking garage was there - horrendous parking situation in and around the WRMC, with both a national horse show and the gun show going at the same time. But, with the garage, even though the line to get in was about 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon, it was nice coming back to a car that wasn't sun-baked and 170F degrees inside.

Guess I'll have to go back next time, too.

I just saw a fellow on the channel 8 news that was also against the parking fees and he mentioned that there was talk of the fees going up.

When are people going to realize this is Texas, if you want to go somewhere you just about have to drive. Provide folks with a place to park. Factor it in your cost if you have to, but don't charge folks to park.
