Welcome to the forum and congrats on your plastic.

Your wife is understanably skittish, having had an ND death in the family.

Avoiding any such problems in the future, everyone must be aware of the Four Rules:

1. Treat all firearms as LOADED firearms.
2. Do not point a firearm at anything you don't want to destroy or kill.
3. Do not put your finger on the trigger until the second you are going to fire.
4. Be certain of your intended target, and anyone/anything behind your target.

IMHO, it seems that the hardest thing to get new shooters to do is to INDEX their trigger
finger along the slide of the gun when simpy holding their pistol.

Newbies have the bad habit of thinking that holding a handgun means that they have to
have their finger on the trigger. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

One day something small will happen that will make her spidey senses tingle and then afterwards she will ask if you are carrying. You will say, "Yes Dear, I was watching and ready" and then she will know. Mine became quite comfortable with me carrying very quickly, but was still a little surprised the first time I carried in church. She was okay with it, but didn't know I was until after Mass.
