Nice! Mom's family was from Throgs Neck and dads from Brooklyn. Hence I spent my childhood in Jersey. Glad my parents moved when they did. If you ever want to see a lot of NY NJ transplants just go to The Woodlands (or maybe you don't) . Everybody is selling there half million dollar condos and buying 3000-4000 sq. ft houses down here for 300k. Go figure! I LOVE TEXAS!!

My son and I were looking at the Smith and Wesson Airweight in .357 a couple weeks ago. All I can say about it is WOW!!! I will be getting one before to long. The downside is that they are expensive. It would easily fit in my pocket with a good pocket holster.

I plan to test fire one before buying. I am betting a pistol as light as that in a .357 magnum would have a pretty sharp "kick".

I currently have a Glock 19 and will soon have a Glock 26 also. I am interested in getting a small sized revolver without spending much money. I am interested in taking some classes that will require me to use a revolver also, so it will be primarily for that purpose. What would be a good direction for me to look at? I have small to medium sized (female) hands and it would need to be a large enough caliber to use for qualification purposes.

Rossi makes a 38 that is about $270 NIB at Academy. Probably get one for less used/trade-in. But that is about the lowest price you will find even on the net. Although it is not generally considered a 'name brand' by some, a google search reveals reasonably good comments for Rossi revolvers.

If you do not need it for carry consider getting a full size barrel (4-6inch) as it will shoot very accurately compared to a snubbie.

Also if not for carry consider a steel gun rather than an airweight/alloy gun. It will be heavy but that extra weight will help with the recoil.

Grips like Hogue Tamer also help with taking the sting out but are not essential if the gun is heavy enough. Unfortunately if your hands are too small these grips may be too large.

You might also look at aftermarket grips like Pachmayr if you find a revolver you like but need to downsize the grip to better fit your hand.

For the price, it's difficult to beat a used Taurus model 85. My mother loves hers. BTW don't forget if you qualify for your TX CHL with a revolver, you will be restricted to revolver carry. Qualify with your Glock so you can carry either.

I have a scandium framed j frame in .357. It's a great little gun. But, here's what NOT to do with one.......shoot 158 grain Remington white tail hunting loads out of it. Don't ask me how I know.
