I fervently believe this myself. Other than an old wall-hanger .22 rifle handed down from my grandfather, I don't own a firearm I wouldn't trust to defend my life if necessary. No tempermental, race-car-like, safe-Queen, range-only firearms in my safe. If I'm not comfortable relying on it to bang EVERY TIME, then I don't own it.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. My AR, and my "old guns" work 100% all the time, every time. Never had a misfire, misfeed, fail to eject with them. I've never owned a handgun that gave me no issues, unfortunately.

Ditto. That's why I have quite a few ugly, black, tupperware lookin handguns sitting arond. Ahh.. and my newfound passion---revolvers

I will agree and repeat what others have said. Contact STI and let them fix it. The Colt can be refined as well. I think you need to get both guns into the hands of people experienced with diagnosing failures and not just customizing or changing parts.
Even if you have to ship the guns to someone for repair it will still be cheaper than taking a hit on BOTH guns and spending retail on a Les Baer.

Wouldn't be spending retail on the Les Baer. Because of the hassles with the STI, the shop / range that I'm dealing with would be giving me a good deal on one. Pretty much cost.

Wouldn't be spending retail on the Les Baer. Because of the hassles with the STI, the shop / range that I'm dealing with would be giving me a good deal on one. Pretty much cost.
What happens if the Les doesn't run out of the box? They obviously can't diagnose the one you have and the Les would get sent back to the manufacturer too. Basically cost is not taking care of you in my eyes if they made money on the STI that didn't run to begin with. Not counting money spent on parts or work on the STI if they charged you. In my eyes taking care of you would be refunding/crediting your money on the STI and ordering you a Les at cost or very minimal markup with the understanding you want it to run 100% and they will make it right if it doesn't. Either them fixing it or being the middle man for the manufacturer.

Yea, I'm going to request that they send it to the MFG for a full diagnosis and repair at this point.
