Glock... it is better than a 1911 trigger. :evil2:

I recently picked up an XD9 sub compact. I am big DA/SA fan, but this pistol is just about right. Lots of folks complain about the factory trigger with "too much take up and and over travel". I just don't get it. Yeah there is some travel, but the trigger breaks clean and decent technique and not slapping the trigger over come that. Over travel? I guess there is a bit, but the reset is decent. For a defensive pistol it is far more than adequate. The SC is remarkably accurate and easy to shoot. If you are looking for a target pistol or race gun, I suppose you could get a trigger job. The grip safety is a big plus for carry.

get these products and put them in your M&P I currently have a M&P with an Apex tactical duty carry kit and it is awesome, the first link is for the forward set sear kit which will replic a 1911 trigger and the second is for the RAM which will create a more positive reset. good luck!

So let me get this right, spend $500 for a M&P and then drop $180 on a better trigger and reset doohickey (Assuming you don't have to pay someone to put it in), and then you have a gun you like?

As I said, please try the Walther PPQ. Best trigger on the market OUT OF THE BOX. No modifications required.

Called a local gunsmith.

Brownells has a trigger kit for $90.00. Cost to install $40.00. Still cheaper than buying a new gun. And besides i really do like the S&W feel in hand.

Still thinking it over.

Apex trigger kit on the M&P - best money I spent to have it installed on my full size. FWIW

It would be helpful and I think more constructive to understand what aspect of the trigger she doesn't like and if there's other aspects of the M&P she doesn't like resulting in the search for a new pistol. Apex makes some great enhancement pieces that just about anyone can install, but have different reasons for installing like competition or enhanced duty carry. Their sear alone can drop the pull by a couple of pounds; but again, understanding why and what she dislikes about the trigger would go a long way in helping give alternate solutions. :thumbs2:

All those mentioned are good. I will just add a Stoger Cougar to the mix. Great Turkish Beretta. I have shot two and I would consider it higher quality then my P95. I would put it up next to an xd. I wanted a truck gun so to speak and got a p95 for under 280 but if I where to do it over again I would spend the extra 100 or so and get a Stoger Cougar. As far as I am considered it is the best deal, quality to cost wise.

She doesn't like the initial take up before you get to the set. I agree it takes some getting use to.

Brownell's has a standard 5 lb trigger kit that looks good and get's high reviews.

Heck i might sell both my M&P's and get another 1911 9mm and be done with it.

I'm not sure what she has in mind and what she wants the gun for.
Beretta P92 is my favorite to shoot. is a full sized gun shoots easy smooth. Its a big gun and isn't so easy to conceal.

By your Handle I assume you like Rugers The stainless p95 shoots well for me, but some don't like the trigger. I find that mine just gets better with age. It ain't pretty but if I were to only only have one gun this would be it.

I recently picked up the Beretta PX4 Storm SC it is a small and hides well. It is accurate although it is took me some practice to gain profficiency. The short 3" barrel takes some getting used to. Just a couple trips to the range though and I worked though it. Recoil is very manageble. The 3 different backstraps proveds a customizable fit for small or large hands. It's now my most often carry.

All three guns I've mentioned are mostly availalable as SA/DA although DA versions are available for all three.

There are a lot of 9mm handguns to choose from ... and lots of good choices.

Like alot of folks here, I have some expensive pieces. Nothing like fine craftsmanship....but always with a price.

Which brings me to my point. I bought a Taurus PT709 Slim a few years back, and I'm just enamored with this little gun. It's my EDC, and shoots very nicely. It took a thorough scrubbing, and a bit of light trigger work, but I completely trust this gun. It disappears when carried OWB under a t-shirt. And it's light enough that I'm not always hiking my pants up.

In terms of accuracy, it's right up there with my Kahr, or Springfield.

And I paid $299 less 10% (sale) at Academy for it. Yup, a $270 carry gun, with a lifetime warranty.

You may want more of a pistol, but check it out, I think you'll be surprised.

I won a PT709 in a raffle, (not a gun I would have bought myself/ I heard some bad reviews about it when it first came out). After shooting it and researching more I've found that it doesn't like +p ammo. I added a Pierce mag extension and I love this gun.

Take a look at a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm. If she likes the 1911 trigger, why not stay with the platform.

By take up, does she simply want a 1911 trigger short and crisp? You're not likely to find that on any DA/SA, DAO, nor striker-fired gun without a lot of custom trigger work or trigger enhancement kit ( like the APEX M&P stuff or Sig SRT etc).

BUT if she simply doesn't like the loose "slack" before sear engages on M&P ( one of my gripes too) then perhaps something from Kahr - similar pull length, but smooth and steady weight all the way thru (more like a true DAO trigger). Some say it feels "spongy" so that may bother her too.

The other very realistic alternative is for her to TRAIN herself to shoot other triggers - not just the 1911, which is unique and intuitive. But with proper training reps - live fire and dry fire, 1,000s of reps - she can master any other trigger.

I don't know her experience level, but perhaps practice/training is a better place to spend time/money than simply trying to find exactly the right gun & trigger set up

Appreciate the tip. Did some reading and they get great reviews.

STI also announced a new line up of the Spartan and several other models that will be worth exploring.
