They have a cable lock system to secure it to the seat frame or other permanent part of the interior. If you had the backpack version then you could take it with you without raising any eyebrows. They also make bags specific for bikes that looked pretty cool. Ebay usually has cheaper prices than most of the online stores.

Hmmm...the fanny pack there would be perfect if you wanted something you could discreetly cart off to a gas station men's room to disarm or rearm.

Maybe not as tough as a steel safe, but it would certainly be more of a hassle than the normal smash-and-grab vehicle burglar is going to want to deal with.

A pair of scissors or even a serrated knife will easily cut through that cable. I drilled holes on the bottom of the safe, bolted a bracket to the safe, and used heavy duty bicycle chain to secure it to my seat. =)

Not sure what type of safe you have, but my Center-of-Mass safe has a 3/16" steel wire rope that holds it in place. It also has holes pre-drilled for mounting. It's made of 21 gauge steel, and has a reasonably solid lock (not sure but I think it's a 3-pin model).

I don't know what scissors you're using, but I've never seen anyone that could cut a cable of this size with scissors (tin snips or cable cutters? yeah, no problem) or a serrated knife. I figure it's significantly harder to get into than the vehicle itself, and with it concealed under the seat it becomes even less of a target.


It may not be perfect, but it will be much harder to get into than the glove box...

Ok I tried cutting and you guys were right. I couldn't cut the wire with scissors. It would only cut the rubber coating but not the wire itself. =)

I feel a little more confident in this little safe. My model's latch isn't as secure as the center of mass one. I'm sure the center of mass one will hold against prying.
