These type of things really get my blood boiling. Why are we as citizens not demanding the DA convene a grand jury to investigate any criminal actions and prosecute the offenders? Why sue in civil court and punish the innocent taxpayers (ourselves). Did the officers not illegally break and enter the woman's apartment? Did they not illegally detain her? Did they not illegally destroy private property?

I'm not saying that LEOs' should be held to a higher standard, just the same standard as anybody else illegally invading private property. For you guys who grab your shotgun, who gets killed or arrested for defending your home from the illegal entry? You do!!!!

Since they did not have a valid warrant, everything they did was illegal. So we the people must insist they be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I agree that consequences for the LEO's actions in cases like this should be harsh. Just not sure that that it reaches to the level of criminal. It does say quite about about competency and I am sure defense attorneys will use it when needed.

How many news stories have we read about a drunk person trying to open to door of what they think is their house only to found dead right there at the hands of the real home owner believing they were defending themselves?

I'm glad you get my point. LEOs' who screw up a warrant should face the same "ride" as everyone else. Do it properly, nothing to fear. Do it wrong, take the ride and see where it leads. If one knows you can't beat the "ride", there will be far fewer screwups, or the "screwups" won't be around long.

I think the bigger issue here is the whole concept of a no knock warrant. Police are humans and mistakes will happen. A no knock warrant reduces ANY chance of minimizing the impact of those mistakes.

Five years ago the police came to my house with a warrant for the previous tenant. Thankfully they knocked, I opened the door with my infant son in my arms. They asked for my name and if I knew the person they were looking for. I told them no, but I got her mail from time to time, they said they would check with the office for a forwarding address. No one died, no doors had to be replaced, they got the information they needed. Had they knocked my door down they would have terrified me and possible injured my infant all for nothing and I would have been in no mood to help them then or in the future. Perhaps the PD should think about the ill-will they ae engendering in the community with these para-military raids in civilian homes,

I always say you cant' shoot through a door because you can't ID the target on the other side.

I think aimging straight down the bar of that chainsaw at who ever is using it on your front door is ID enough.
