Seems like a bad deal all the way around. I still can't help but feel that PART of the moral (if you can call it that) to the story is DON'T LIVE IN D.C. or any other liberal enclave that "cares".

...not to defend D.C., but aggressive action would have been taken in Texas, too, if the police got a tip that someone was talking suicide...and guns need not be mentioned to make it so...just the report that someone has been talking about harming themselves can get them picked up and taken to a facility for a mental evaluation...

in Texas I have been the attending medic on several MH warrants and never encountered something like this, yes forcible entry was made on most of the cases but trashing the house and digging around looking for everything that may be used to harm oneself or others wasn't hunted down and removed wasn't part of it. If it was TX they may have searched for weapons or meds(we always did) but not trashed the house. so either there are some missing bits of information or someone decided to have a field day and teach one of us nasty soldiers our place(on a leash in a kennel) and a lesson

Oh, it's part. It's a huge part, but that's beside the point.

For some reason, I can't get the article to open. Here's the complaint.

Since he met them in his front yard, there was no question of him being inside and attempting to harm himself. If admission that he had guns over the phone is indeed a crime, I would think that since they had removed him from the premises, they could have obtained a warrant.

Seems unreasonable to me. Then again, I have a habit of getting thrown out of juror pools simply by opening my mouth.
