Don't we have enough trouble fighting the silly laws that the antis want to foist upon us without adding our own?

Aren't guns expensive enough?

This proposed law might make a few people feel better about themselves "Look ma, I got a law passed!" but will do nothing to make people any safer.
There are plenty of resources for those who want to learn.
For those who don't - even strapping them down and forcing them to watch a video will not help.

Just like they include 18 year old gang bangers in numbers of "children" killed by gun violence... If the numbers of accidents go down they'll still want to ban guns.

These people don't think logically. Guns are scary. Nothing we do will change that.
Oh, its not just 18 year old gang-bangers who have been labeled as children...it has been noted that one study cited some up to age 25 as being "youths" because they were in "youth gangs", and thus by extension, children...there is no floor to the level of low that these types will sink to.

We already have a REALLY GREAT LAW regarding guns. I'm not sure where to find it online, but I believe it goes something like this...

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Any other law is a waste of paper!

There it is! :clapping:

We have enough gun laws (too many) as it is. The law that tommyG is suggesting would be a godsend to lawyers looking for another venue from which to $ue $omebody.

Guns are not for everybody. Sadly, there is, as yet, no cure for stupid.

both places , take the time to break it down and ensure you know the features and safety.
plus how to dis-assemble it for cleaning

that should be standard at every shop.
Even if you think you know it, you can always learn
It should be, but do we really want the government's hands in this?

The OPs proposal would be 100% percent effective, just like the trigger locks that dealers are mandated to include with each firearm sale.... Ok, maybe they are not 100% effective, or even effective at all....

I know a lot of people won't look at a vid or read an owners manual.
However it could help a gun maker from being held liable
because a buyer did not have access to proper instruction
in the use of a potentially lethal product. A cheap made vid is
a lot less expensive than a lawyer. Gun makers will pass
the cost of the Lawyer on to the consumer

I'm Not a Lawyer But I think most people will understand the point

People have tried to sue gunmakers for misuse of their products and failed.

You don't see any of the gun companies shelling out big bucks in settlements because some thug used a sig, glock, or springfield to harm someone.

It's a solution to a problem that simply does not exist.

You cannot cure stupid. If a person is not capable of safely handling a firearm, they simply should not own a fire arm. (if you cant swim, stay out of the pool) The vast majority of persons that fit into this category will not read an owners manual much less any safety videos offered by an arms maker.

So absolutely not! Could live without all these laws we have now, dang sure dont need another...

I view this as a potential issue. People who would usually be ignorant now have easier access to these training videos, and can use them for evil. Videos will be seen, and more people will be trying to spot the CHL carriers, and possibly take a 5 finger discount on that weapon. Not to even measure the two against each other, but most people are in the dark when it comes to special forces training for a reason. Let me carry, I'll do it my way, and be done with it!
