That's a toss-up. If the LEO is up on his CHL laws whoever they were called for will probably be let go without any further problems. However, if not, the poor law abiding CHL soul will take a ride and shell out some coin to get it all cleared up. The hospital will not be out any money and any civil case against them would have an ice cube's chance in Hades of getting anywhere if one cold even find a lawyer to take the case.

But, yes, a non-employee is technically free from prosecution due to the invalidity of this posting.

Employee or non-employee it doesn't matter.(unless civil for some type of contract you signed) The sign is not legal! Just because the sign is not correct doesn't mean a cop won't arrest you. There have been many people wrongfully arrested and acquitted after the fact. It could cost you attorney fees and a horrid headache if the officer decided to take you in.

Also, the hospital would discover their error and post the correct version and would likely orally tell whoever they called the police for in the first place that they were prohibited from bringing a gun inside.

BTW, that also goes for you. If you are orally told by a supervisor, manager, or administrator that you cannot carry inside then you too have been sufficiently notified.

True, but a non-employee doesn't have to factor in the possibility of losing their job.

True taking the chance to lose your job is a personal one. C-dub I forgot about the oral notification also. I have never had a job where I was orally notified but that is true.

The oral notification thing is harder for the employer to prove, but still there. That is why some, I know mine does, documents who is at certain meetings and might even record meetings in order to verify who was or was not present.
