Rented a Glock 19

Re: Rented a Glock 19
I know I'll be getting another one....but I'm not sure which.
Don't know if I'll go with a 26 for a smaller option, or go for the 21 to have one in .45
I know the internet is full of bad things about the gen 4s, but mines been flawless. I bought it, ran a bit of oil on the slide, and in 2 range trips shot 400 rounds without a single issue. Never even cleaned the thing.
I actually prefer the gen 4 because of the grip. I never liked the old glock grips, but apparently the gen 4 without backstraps installed is just slightly thinner, and it fits my hand perfectly that way.
as always, YMMV.

TAM, speaking of standardization, might as well plan on picking up a Keltec Sub2k while you're at it.The Annoyed Man wrote:My wife has a G19, and I'm looking to pick up another one. Used is fine. We are going to put them in our go-bags for reasons of weight, capacity, standardization, and that an extra box of 100 rounds of 9mm weighs less than a box of 100 rounds of .45.74novaman wrote:I just got one myself...and you're right, I'm not looking to sell anytime soon.![]()
Gt distributers in Austin has trade ins every once and a while. Don't know if it's just 17s or 19s too. Can't hurt to call and ask.
Fold it up in the go bag, 33 rd glock mags.....ammo compatibility with both of your carry pieces, but with a little extra reach? Can't hurt to have!
(Don't you love how I'm always trying to get you to spend money?)

Try gun broker. Right now there are a few listed that have bids under 450.00. Buy from sellers that have a history of selling ...I would not buy from anyone that is new. I will allow someone else to be the test rat on the newb sellers. Don't flip out trying to buy one and overbid. Decide what you are willing to pay and wait for that deal to come along. It always does...

I've used the .40 glocks before and they were pretty good too.
But nothing I've ever fired was quite like the feel of the compact 9mm in my hand. I had nearly perfect groups on the first try (and I'm no marksman). I just loved the sight picture and trigger break. This is definitely going to be the next handgun I buy.
Do any of you guys see these things go used very often, I've only 1/2 way had my eye out for one used but never seen one yet (who in their right mind would sell one!).

G19 was my first handgun and I still love it. The great thing about it is my 13 yr son can shoot it too. I have the g27 as well. Not as clean with it as the 19 but makes for nice carry. I am looking for another g19 for my son for his birthday cause we plan to join the IDPA after his flag football is over. Some people say they are ugly...not me I like the look and feel but most of all, I like that it works every time I pull the trigger! My opinion is you cant go wrong. We visit Cabela's in Allen and they will have used g3 19 from time to time but like others have said, they go fast and about 20 less than new g4. I hope you fine one you like soon!
Re: Rented a Glock 19
I love my glock 19 gen 2. It doesn't have the pesky finger grooves like they have in gen 3-4. I have tiny fingers and the finger grooves force my fingers into an uncomfortable position.
I wouldn't sell it ever. It is my favorite gun and they don't even make them without the finger grooves anymore!
My shooting buddy who carries a .45 cal glock (G30) that's the same size as the 19 asked if I ever felt under gunned with only 9mm. I told him that the .45 carries only 11 rounds. I would feel under gunned carrying only 11 rounds since the 19 carries 16 rounds. Besides, the G30's double stack means that its grip is too wide for my itty bitty hands.

Nonsense. I still bow in the direction of JMB's birthplace 3 times a day and genuflect at his name, and I carry cocked and locked 1911s with some frequency. The 1911 is like a Corvette, and the Glock is like a Jeep. I'd rather drive the Corvette daily, and it is MORE than adequate to the task, but when TEOTWAWKI comes, I'd rather have a Jeep in the garage, ready to go. Simple, functional, and you don't care if it gets scratched up.JustMe wrote:That's 'cause we all HAVE Glocks and they don't want to show their jealousy!CEOofEVIL wrote: And what, no one has posted saying that we need to repent and say three dozen encantations to JMB for our herecy? Hehehe
It's kind of a "pleasure of ownship" versus "capacity" thing.........like Lagavulin versus moonshine, ribeye steak versus hamburger, leather versus naugahyde.

Me too, and from the same place, but the location in Dallas. I picked up a Missouri State Police trade-in Gen 3 RTF2 19, with night sights that looked new in the box for $404 out the door!!!74novaman wrote:I just got one myself...and you're right, I'm not looking to sell anytime soon.![]()

I would call them periodically and see if they have what you're looking for, cause when the good deals hit they don't last too long.

Re: Rented a Glock 19
JustMe, is there a significant difference in the recoil between the 26 and 19? I want to eventually buy a 26 for my wife but recently told that the 26 has more recoil since it is a smaller firearm. What do you think?JustMe wrote:I love my 19--and have a 26 also. I use the 26 when I'm carrying on body--the 19 when in my purse. And neither of them are going anywhere!!!
