Saw a couple of sub $500 prices on new Glocks.

If President Obama is re-elected, I predict that we will see the strongest attack on gun owners’ rights that has ever come out of the White House. And forget about the strategy of “we’ll just endure four years until the next election.” The constituency of the Supreme Court, in four more years of an Obama administration, will have changed considerably from the one that barely gave us the Second Amendment-affirming decisions in Heller and McDonald. It will set the stage for the man most likely to get the Democratic nomination for President in 2016, Rahm Emanuel. In many ways, Emanuel is Obama’s familiar, and much less inclined than his mentor to keep his anti-gun leanings even temporarily in the closet. As mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel has already proposed a draconian, impossibly expensive gun registration and ownership scheme for the entire state of Illinois. And don’t be surprised if President Obama announces that Rahm Emanuel will be his Vice-Presidential running mate in the 2012 election.
I have a colossal amount of respect for Mr Ayoob and what he does for our community. In this situation, I will say he's wrong. Not so much in the evidence he presents (we know Obama is anti-gun, we know Rahm is anti-gun, we know Holder is anti-gun, etc.), but that Obama will have to swing an axe through a VERY thick gauntlet of congressmen that have no love for him. Yes, if he wins, he has a great opportunity to stack the deck of the Supreme Court again, but it would require the court revisit the recent decisions and overturn what is now "established law."
Massad IS right in implying that a Democratic win in 2012 is a bad portent for gun ownership in many ways, but there is sufficient evidence to indicate that many states, including Texas, Montana, Wyoming, etc. will simply thumb their nose at them. We definitely live in interesting times.
Well, the possibilities for irony are growing. If the race hustlers manage to inflame passions enough to get riots going, support for more gun control may reach all time lows.

Yup, just to be clear, there are NO reports of price gouging or anything like that (and if you see it, report the dealer to the manufacturer). It's just that supplies are limited to stock on hand. I wonder if more people will be buying 45GAP now?
(I shouldn't laugh -- there was a spike in 45GAP purchases in the 07-08 rush as well)

Especially among Koreans in Los Angeles. And other hard working minorities.

A 45 Gap user?!?!
I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild.

They are shy, elusive, and only gather in groups at GSSF matches :)

It's just an open-ended contract to buy ammo on demand. No different than other organizations. I don't see anything nefarious about it.

Agreed, I have no love for the DHS but this is a pretty standard open to buy contract that is used for all kinds of procurement activities.

I wasn't saying it was nefarious. I was saying that it may explain some of the decreasing supply of certain calibers to the public sector as suppliers gear up to fulfill those contracts.

My apologies for the misdirected assumption. Just as a side note though, there are ammo shortages in many common calibers, and prices are going up (and will not come back down) because of worldwide metal shortages.

I'm definitely noticing the lack of AR parts on the web. I can't seem to find a place these days where you can do one stop shopping, unless you go ahead and buy a complete upper.
Anyone looking for a glock might try glockmeister.com. As of this post, their website still had G19 Gen 4 for 549.00 and 624.00 with glock night sights. They are in AZ so no sales tax and free shipping.
I'll be at the Lewisville gun show tomorrow looking for an LPK and new trigger for my AR. Anyone have any vendor suggestions?
Mark

If Obama is re-elected he won't go through Congress with anti-gun measures. He will do it through regulation through the ATF and the EPA. Or he may even do it through the UN. And Congress won't be able to overturn it because Obama won't sign any such legislation.
