Really bad things can happen to anyone anywhere at any time.

Just because they don't happen often or haven't happened in a while in a particular place is not evidence that they never will.

There is no such thing as immunity from criminal attack anywhere on the planet.

When people talk about "safe" and "unsafe" places, they're really talking about a perception of how frequently those really bad things happen there - not whether or not they can happen.

Folks frequently confuse low frequency with immunity, but it's important to keep the difference in mind when doing risk management planning for yourself and your family.

While I agree with the sentiment, I think it would be a waste of time and resources to burn someone at the stake, not to mention the mess. Would I like to see the cop killer suffer? Sure. Do I think he's got a special place in hell reserved for him? Absolutely. You are right for feeling that way, I just thought reverting back to such an archaic practice would be counterproductive. But on second thought, I'd be happy to recruit some Aggie Alumni to make sure it's done right.

Personally, I am a proponent for going back to public hangings in the courthouse square. Sentence them. Give them 1 year total for appeals, then hang 'em.

If he got drunk at a bar, I wouldn't be surprised to see charges filed there too.
