Actually they typically have a lower price on guns if you dont factor in the 30-45 minutes it can take to actually make the purchase :biggrinjester:

Seriously, is there a legal definition for "assault rifle" or is it all in the eyes of the beholder?

From Wikipedia:
For 74 years it was a privately held company owned by the Gochman family, until its May 2011 sale of majority ownership to the investment firm Kohlberg Kravis and Roberts LP.
From everything that I've heard, nothing indicates that they will be changing their product line-up, expect to add more well-known brands. They recently added TaylorMade, and I know of another (not golf-related) well-known brand that has visited several stores to see if they want Academy to carry their products.

They have made other changes. Not all bad. Hand Gun Ammo is now out on the shelves. You don't have to wait for someone to hand you the ammo from behind the counter anymore.

If it has the shoulder thing that goes up, you know.

and that is an awesome change. I hated waiting for them to come back to the counter, or grab the wrong box, etc.

+1. I rarely bought hadngun ammo there. Now if I go by Academy on the way I swing by and pick up a box or two just to keep adding to the pile.

Huh? I haven't shopped their guns before, but noticed a couple of prices before when asking about something else once and thought those were high. I haven't been back because I figured they had everything marked up a little more than others.

I don't know if it's a function of increased shelf space or what, but it seems like the selection has improved drastically as well. I've generally tried to swing by the local store and pick up a box of whatever I'm lowest on every payday, but that one box has recently grown to 2-3 now that there are more options available.

We'll see how long it lasts before the inevitable election-year panic buying cleans them out.

Whats funny is I think those of us in the know, who would like to be able to go to the range, shoot competitions, or teach classes are buying a lot now while supply/cost is still reasonable, anticipating not purchasing anything for a while later. (I know I am anyway)

Its the pre panic panic buy. :biggrinjester:
