I think what they mean is that you have to make a claim against your homeowner insurance, then show Armscare what your deductible is. IOW, they're not just going to take your word for it.

My homeowner insurance does not exclude firearms. They would be covered on the same terms as anything else, with a deductible somewhere above $1,000.

Thanks for the condolences. I went shopping at B&S Guns in Garland when I got back today. I walked out with the Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm compact. It will be much easier to conceal. I cannot wait to go shoot it. It was really between the M&P and a Glock 19. I went with the M&P.

I'll not make the mistake of leaving it in the truck again.

Suggestions for replacement 9mm: CZ75B, S&W M&P 9 and I agree about the browning high power (Actual Browning higher in cost but the FN hipower is same gun made by same factory without Browning rollmark)

I gotta tell this story, if for nothing else other than LT's personal enjoyment.

Year before last, right around Christmas, someone broke into one of our vehicles and stole a Glock 17. We called local PD, reported the theft, cried a few tears over the loss of the beloved Glock, and then went on about our lives, convinced we would never see it again. We could only hope it was in a better place.

Fast forward to along about February, I open the front door early one morning to go fetch the paper and there is something lumpy under the doormat. I moved the mat, and I'll be... It's OUR GLOCK! Still in the same case it was in when it left. Nicely cleaned, with fresh ammo in the mag.

How did this happen? Beats me. My personal opinion - it was one of those "Incredible Journey" type things. Our Glock hooked up with a pug dog and a cat and crossed rivers and streams and major highways to find its way back home.

We may never know. What we DO know, is that the local PD will give you a hard time when you call them back to report a gun "un-stolen". I don't think they believed my story about the dog, the cat, and the rivers, and streams.

So, the moral of this story is, JRG, if you had bought a Glock instead of an XD, there might be a chance it would come back to you. I don't think XD's are that loyal. But, enjoy your S&W!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you not like about the XD? I'm just curious...

Were your GPS/Binocs also in the same location as the XD, or were they out in the open? Seems odd they didn't at least take the GPS...easy to turn into fast money since they're easy to fence.

Any chance they saw you put the weapon in the console?

Keep us informed on how the S&W works out for you. Maybe even a range report when you get a chance to try it out.

I drooled over one at the last gun show. It felt great in my hand and I'm also considering it as a possible carry piece instead of one of my XD's.

The XD is a great gun, just a little hard to conceal for me.

Now go shoot it and enjoy!

Dummy.....why'd you leave your weapon in the vehicle? I never leave a firearm in a vehicle for just this reason.............

BUT, man........sorry for your loss. That just plain stinks. It's pretty bold for someone to just break into a vehicle. I am, of course, assuming it was in a lit parking lot? I have to travel alot and pretty much live out of hotels while I'm on the road and often wonder what I'll wake to out in the parking lot. Hope you're able to find a replacement quickly. S&W has a nice M&P out and I love my Beretta PX4. Of course, getting the same pistol you lost might help with the pain of losing a loved one. That way, when it's recovered you'll have interchangeable mags!!!

Just a reminder...I think there are a couple of FFL's here on the site. It would be cool if we asked them to give us a quote before we bought elsewhere.
