here's a whole forum dedicated to 1911 magazine:

OK, I went to the 1911 magazine forum and will admit that I'm totally confused! :confused5 :headscratch Those guys/gals are way beyond my level of understanding. I don't even think I want to get that technical about how magazines work!

Thanks for all of the advice. I'll report back after I've taken they are delivered and I've had a chance to go to the range.
How did you make out with the Tripp mags?

Mine are ordered and I should have them Tuesday. I edited my original post in this thread and decided to get the best. So I put the ED Brown factory mags (Checkmates) and the Springfield factory mags (also Checkmates) back in their gun boxes and will use Tripp exclusively.

I ordered 2 7-round magazines and and 2 8-round magazine with base pads that fit my STI Guardian and have not had a single problem with them. That includes a training class where I went through about 250 rounds in 3 hours or so. :thumbs2: :thumbs2: I'm very happy and would highly recommend the Tripp Research magazines.

Good to know the Tripp mags worked out for you! I may have to give them a shot, especially if I end up getting the STI Shadow I have my sights on....

I run WC 47D mags in my Sig 1911 Extreme, and they feed reliably. The one issue I had with them, was that the magazines would not feed when I racked the gun, only when I released the slide. After looking over the mags, and not finding anything particularly wrong about their construction, I contacted Wilson for advice. They couldn't see anything wrong from my pictures either, and asked me to send them in for engineering to look them over. Before shipping them out, I decided to test them one more time. At this point, I realized that the mags were not locking into the magwell. Once I slapped the mags in with a reasonable amount of force, they seeded properly, and the feeding issues went away. This may be an issue with the 8 round mags being slightly too large for the Sig 1911 design, but they do not seem to be causing any internal issues.
